BOB SIMPSON

Bob Simpson is Transpower Chief Engineer.  This is an Executive role reporting to CEO where he is responsible for ensuring engineering quality, strategy and effectiveness.  He also provides technical challenge, leadership and support to Transpower Executive team, managers and staff and manages Transpower Board Network Risk Committee.

Bob is an electrical engineer with over 37 years’ industry experience.  Bob has held a number of senior roles within the electricity industry.  He has also provided technical and managerial consulting services to the electricity industry in New Zealand and overseas.  Bob is Director of, President of Electricity Engineers Association and Trustee of University of Canterbury Power Engineering Excellence Trust (PEET) and Electric Power Engineering Centre (EPECentre).  Bob holds ME (Electrical), FIPENZ, FIET, CPEng and CEng qualifications.  He was previously Board member of Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation.

He has extensive industry knowledge, executive management experience and governance experience.  He is passionate about the EEA providing quality technical leadership for the electricity industry.
